I got up at 5AM and got in line at about 5:20.
I was about the 200th person in line to vote. It was very rainy, but I had an umbrella with me. I also had my Amazon Kindle (with a little clip on light attached to it) so I read the whole time I was in line.
The doors opened at 6AM and by 6:45 I had already voted & was walking out the door...SWEET!
I showed up at 6:30, when the polls here were to open, and was out by 6:55. I think a lot of early voters around here will make for a not so hectic day today.
Scott says he wishes we were still in VA where votes are so crucial today. He voted early already. I waited for today so the kids could get excited about it.
Our poll doesn't start till 7:00am, but Sean and I dropped the kids off at school at 9:00 and drove to the poll place down the street from us and voted with a 5 minute wait. I hear of long lines, but we don't seem to have that problem.
I hope you voted well, too. I went at about 10:00 am this morning. There was no line. However, Holly had to hold Justin while she voted. We voted together, so naturally, we probably cancelled each other out. Ah, well.
Yeah I don't think I'm going to go either, not as enjoyable by yourself. I thought about going to 1000 Voices but I won't be able to make it. Have fun though.

Can't wait to you all again!! :) You were a real encouragement to me last year with all the "drama"...you know what I'm talking about? The stuff in class. ;)
I'm still doing the "work at home on ebay & take care of the kids while Cindy's at work" thing. Now that school's started, I only need to take care of Katie during the day, but that still means doing all the other stuff (build a shed move everything from the garage into it, fix broken stuff, shop for food) while I take care of her.
On top of all that, I have people I need to call (personal & business related) and while I'm answering ebay emails, I get the "forward this to your friends & your wish will come true" email from all the ladies at church who just discovered email. I can't tell them "those things are real" or "don't send me that, because I'm too busy to read it" because it'll hurt their feelings, so I let 'em clutter up my inbox.
*Also, I'm interrupted every 7 minutes because Katie wants to show me a toy that she found that she lost 3 months ago. And that's in addition to her "I need to go potty, can you turn the light on for me" interruption that comes every 30 minutes and her "I want a snack" interruption that comes every 13 minutes.
So yeah...I'm keeping busy =)
Sorry I haven't been here to keep in touch with you all.
One thing I've been thinking a lot about recently is how crazy it is that there's about 4 major online websites that I'm a part of to keep in touch with friends, and I don't have time to get on ANY of them to post updates.
There's Pleonast, Facebook, Flickr, Myspace...and then I have my own website that I originally created so I could post pics & keep in touch with family & friends.
About once a week, I say something to Cindy about how I need to get online & post something, ANYTHING so that people don't think I'm dead. And usually, at some point during that week, I get ANOTHER invitation to join ANOTHER online "keep in touch with friends" website.
It's insane really, and I believe I've found the solution:
Pick one & leave the rest behind.
So I'm going to do that.
I'm going to post this message on all my online "friends" sites, then I'll make a decision soon about which one I'm gonna stick with. And I won't even be able to update THAT one very often, but at least I won't feel like I'm neglecting all of the sites...now it'll be just the one =)
Pleonast The Pros: Pleonast is great because it's the cleanest as far as ads & overall content. It seems to be made up 99% of people who are Christians & like to talk about bible stuff. The discussions are mature & aren't chock-full-a nasty stuff.
-It's free & that's a big Pro!
The Cons: I STILL need to keep a text file full of all the codes on how to post a picture, change text color, add a video, or link to a person/website. It's not user friendly at all & too much time is spent on "how do I", instead of the actual post.
Also, it's not very well-known amoung most of my friends; just my friends from my FC days, or other people I've met through Pleo.
-If you don't know somebody's Pleonast username, you'll never find them unless you spend hours & hours going through everybody ELSE'S profiles & looking at their friends. This is the #1 problem with Pleo & unless it's changed, it'll never really take off as an online friend finder site.
-It's also a text-based site, so unless you like to read EVERYTHING, it's a lot of work just to keep up with everything.
My Space The Pros: Everyone I know has heard of Myspace. It's the best way to find old friends, because everybody seems to be on there. You can search for people by name, username or email address. So it's super easy to find old friends.
-It's easy to post comments on people's blogs or find groups where people share similar interests.
-It's free
The Cons: It's filthy! The ads, the event invites, the personal messages...it's a cesspool of immoral garbage.
Facebook The Pros: Facebook seems to be a pretty easy way to find people & keep in touch with friends. It seems that even the mighty Myspace has changed their overall appearance to look more like Facebook, and that's saying a lot!
You can post updates on there like "What Brian is doing at this very moment..." or "Who Brian just added as a friend".
-It's very very user friendly, maybe too much!
-It's easy to store & post pictures there (unlike Pleonast's super confusing "room" option...I've only known TWO people who actually use their "room").
-Finding people is a snap, in fact, I get invites from people at least twice a week!
-It appears to be very popular, so the odds of finding other friends on there are high.
The Cons: For me, I don't know it that well at all. It's the one site out of all my "friends" sites that I've been on the least.
But that's not an overall con for Facebook, it's just for me.
All The Other Stuff I keep telling friends that I don't have time to get the REGULAR online sites & post stuff, and I STILL keep getting invites to weird places like Flickr, Twinkle, Find'Em, Post It, Reunite With'Em....good grief...the sites just keep coming and coming.
So what I need to do is stop accepting invitations to all these new places, then I need to decide on which one I'm going to go with exclusively.
I can keep all my personal info up there, so if someone's looking for me, they can easily find me.
But I don't have the time to post the same thing on every site anymore.
Staying on Pleonast is the least likely.
I've been gone forever & haven't received one message.
I can't even remember the last time I posted & someone commented on it. That's my fault, I realize this, but I still get about 2 messages or invites a week for Facebook & about 1 a month on Myspace.
Myspace isn't too likely either, I'll probaby do the same with that account that I do with the Pleo account.
So at this point, it looks like Facebook is in the lead. It has the most Pros & the least amount of Cons.
When I finally decide on which one I'm gonna go with, I'll post my decision so people will know where to find me.
I still LIVE on Gmail. I work all day at home & my Gmail inbox is always open. So when I get an email, I've read it within the minute it was sent to me.
So Fantabular@gmail.com is the absolute best way to reach me. It's even better than calling.
So email me if you need me.
I'll be back soon to let you know where I've gone =)
I love the post and agree with you! I have a myspace account, but I hardly ever check it because it is so horridly filty. I recently joined facebook and so far, I really enjoy it.
I will continue to use both pleo and facebook, but I'll make sure to keep tabs on you at facebook! :-)
I just figured you were busy. When people don't post on Pleo I usually don't bug them about "where are you and what are you doing?" I have tried to consolidate all my different sites as well. It's just too time consuming to check all of them. I decided to keep Pleo and MySpace. MySpace is mostly for the women in my SAHM group. It's nice to get to know them on line as well as in person (they are more themselves and not just mommy when online). I never could get into Facebook and all the other sites are so new that there aren't as many friends on them as on Pleo.
Well, I also figured you were busy elsewhere and since I have been busy and not checking on all of my accounts as much, I forget to check on people. Unless the name lights up, I don't pop over...
^Same here. And I'd miss your comments on NT_Christians. I only have time for one place, and Pleo suits my neophyte purpose. If this post stays up, I'll at least have your info.
I know how you feel! I went on Myspace for 10 min and had a "scank" and that's putting it nicely on there doing explicit things. So I reported it and got off. Two months, yes I said two, I get a messgae askin what the link was to the persns page!!! LIKE AS IF I KEPT THAT FILTH!! So I refuse to use that website. I'm only on here and facebook for me would just be another "addiction". I do wish it was easier to do things on here cause there's not even a good way to use the html things and tell others without it being completely messed up and confusing. I still don't know how to get a pic on here cause all the ways listed don't "work" and I just get told I need to resize and never shown how to. Stinky. Well good luck with everything!
Be glad you can work from home, Tom is still trying to get the trucking thing to work, even though almost all options unclude never see your family or friends and if you do want to kiss any pay check goodby. :P
Oh my goodness, you just HAD to bring back those bad memories, didn't you? Ya know, I've been permanently scarred by that experience and won't play the piano in front of people anymore. Go figure. That day will forever haunt me!
(insert theme from Indiana Jones here...dun da dun duuuun...dun da duuuun...come on, you know the tune!)
Yep, it's official.
I've seen all four Indiana Jones movies in the theater. I remember each one too.
Part one: The Only thing I remember from this one, is how scared I was at the melting faces at the end. And I remember that Bellock (sp?) guy eating the fly once they got to the island to open the arc.
Part two: I remember seeing it with my dad & brother. The movie starts with a dance scene and we all thought we were in the wrong movie.
Part three: I think I saw this with my mom & I remember being disappointed with the movie.
Part four: I saw it alone because everybody I knew was either busy, or had seen it already. But don't worry, I'll probably end up going to see it a couple more times if you want to go see it with me.
I wrote a nice long entry in the LOST forum. You can read it here
Tripp has been catching up watching these online. He'd never seen any of them before. I think he's planning on watching the new one, but not sure if he will go to the theater or wait to rent it.
I remember vividly seeing the first one as well! My brother Sean and I saw it by ourselves in the theatre. I was only 8 and my brother was 6 - but my dad was working at the base theatre in San Antonio, TX and so he came and checked up on us every once in a while! I remember being scared with the face melty guy.
We watched the first one with Abby on DVD a couple of weeks ago and she LAUGHED at the face melty part (in her defense, it does look less scary than I remember.... 1981 special effects and all)
